We started the day off with a church service at 10am at the church in our village, although the Sunday school kids went at 9am. It went for approximately 1 hour, and was mostly in Fijian. However there were a few speeches in English including a prayer and thanks made by Ms Gambino. We sang ‘Shine, Jesus, Shine’ after listening to about ten Fijian hymns!! When we were leaving the church, many of us gave a donation to the collection bowl.

For the rest of the day we were resting with our families, as it was a day of no work. You couldn’t go swimming, play sports or do any form of work. This is because when God created the universe, he rested on the seventh day, so the villagers rest every Sunday. At 4pm some people were lucky enough to go to church for a second time with their families, but some of us didn’t.

In the afternoon we had some tea and coconut scones in our bure’s and we  talked to our families about life in ‘Malevu’ village and how our experiences have been so far and also what we have left to do here in this wonderful (extremely hot) part of the world known as Fiji!!

After dinner we all gathered at the community centre to watch the final hour of ‘Finding Nemo’ and started to watch a documentary called Blue Planet which is about the ecosystems of the sea as we are studying the marine biology of the Fijian Islands.
